THRENDS presents the H1 2026 edition of its Chains Monitor Italy. The report provides an updated overview of hotel chain penetration, market dynamics and development opportunities across Italy.

During the first 6 months of 2026, approximately 197 new hotels joined chain portfolios, while 27 hotels exited their chains. Hotel chain penetration reached approximately 21% of total rooms and 8% of hotels nationwide, exceeding 40% in the luxury segment.

Looking ahead, the report identifies approximately 277 hotel development and affiliation projects planned for 2027-2030, with luxury accounting for 46% of the pipeline. International operators are expected to drive 58% of new projects, with Lombardy, Lazio and Veneto among the leading regions for future openings.
