Mövenpick Mondello Palace, New entry di Accor

As previously announced in “The Bulletin” on September 14th, the Hotel Mondello Palace in Palermo is currently closed for a complete renovation and refurbishment of its interior and exterior spaces. The property, set to reopen in the third quarter of 2024, will become part of the “Mövenpick” brand portfolio of Accor. The accommodation offering will include 80 rooms, including 14 suites, spacious conference facilities, a restaurant, bar, SPA, 2 paddle tennis courts, and outdoor pools. The Mövenpick Mondello Palace will be managed by the previous owners of the property, the Società Industria Alberghiera Turistica S.p.A. (S.I.A.T.), which is affiliated with the Mondello Immobiliare Italo Belga S.A. Group. On March 13, 2023, a 15-year lease contract was signed, with the possibility of an additional 15 years. The new owner, Mondello Palace Hotel S.r.l. (affiliated with Geimcor S.p.A.), has taken over the lease contract of the Mondello Palace Hotel from the Società Industria Alberghiera Turistica S.p.A. (S.I.A.T.).

The investment planned by Mondello Palace Hotel S.r.l. for the property’s refurbishment is over 10 million Euros. With the signing of the Mövenpick Mondello Palace franchising contract, the Accor Group strengthens its presence in the Sicily region, particularly in Palermo, reaching a total of four properties under the “Ibis Styles” and “Mercure” brands. The Hotel Mercure is also affiliated with Geimcor S.p.A. since the early months of this year when the company, once again, took over the lease contract for the property (originally signed on April 7, 2008). It’s worth noting another upcoming Mövenpick-branded property, a 122-room hotel that will be located within the new Cagliari stadium and will be managed by Amapa. The Cagliari Calcio project is supported by partners Accor and Snowgroup. The accommodation offering will include a significant conference center, enhancing the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) offerings in Cagliari, a rooftop bar, a restaurant, and a pool.
