Marriott launches new extended stay brand

As anticipated in «The Bulletin» of 4 May last year, Marriott just launched its 32nd brand, which should be the brand for living rooms most budget friendly of the chain. The new brand, called «Project MidX Studios” doesn’t officially have a name yet. Recall that in recent weeks also Hilton has launched its own extended stay brand with the temporary name «Project H3» and Hyatt il his “Hyatt Studios”. Marriott’s MidX Studios concept already has more than 250 potential development opportunities in the pipeline compared to similar brand launches for living rooms extensions of Hyatt and Hilton, which both have communicated more than 100 development projects for i respective brands. The brand aims to attract guests who they stay for 20 nights or more in a hotel and that have a budget of approx. 80 euros per night.

The suites for guests will be equipped with queen-size beds single or double and private kitchen. In areas common, complete the offer laundry, room fitness, pay-and-go commercial spaces and pet spaces friendly. The new brand «Project MidX Studios» goes ad add to Residence Inn, TownePlace Suites, Marriott Executive Apartments, Element by Westin and the Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy (recently announced) to the portfolio of Marriott’s extended stay facilities. Major hotel chains such as Marriott, Hyatt and Hilton have often touted theirs focus on high-end segments, leaving the market shares of the segments more cheaper than other chains like Wyndham and Choice Hotels. In recent years, however, the strategy is changing and the chains are embracing the idea that it is better to have an offer in all segments, rather than focus only on markets with high budgets.
