According to rumours, the Grand Hotel Cadenabbia, located in Griante, Cadenabbia (CO), has been taken over by the Statuto Group, with the aim of entrusting its management to Six Senses. The hotel, formerly 4* with 192 keys, is currently closed for renovation work that will allow it to be upgraded to a 5-star category. The 400-bed hotel had already undergone renovation and extension work in 2005 and up to 2007. Also in Griante, last October, the current manager of the De La Ville di Monza (Nardi family) acquired the Locanda Marianna, a boutique hotel and terrace restaurant in a lakefront location, currently undergoing renovation to reposition in the upscale segment. The Statuto Group’s most recent acquisition in Italy, as announced in advance in “The Bulletin”, was in October that of Six Senses Rome, a 95-key 5* hotel that opened last March. It was Orion Capital Managers that sold the asset, reportedly on the market from March 2023, for Euro 245 mln (2.6 mln per key). Six Senses’ pipeline in Italy includes the Six Senses Antognolla, which will open in 2026, as well as the Six Senses Milan. According to CEO Neil Jacobs, the number of resorts in Italy will be doubled in the next three years, with a focus on the mountains, Venice and Sardinia
As reported in ‘The Bulletin’ of 08.01.2024, Gruppo Statuto (SLH Hotels S.r.l.) recently took over the 135-key 5* Mandarin Oriental Paris for EUR 205 million (EUR 1.5 million per room). The Hong Kong-based chain will continue to operate the hotel under a long-term management contract and will use the proceeds from the sale to strengthen its development strategy. In FY2022, the Mandarin Oriental Paris recorded a RevPAR of $773, up from $372 in FY2021. The Statuto Group owns some of Italy’s most prestigious hotels, including the Four Seasons and Mandarin Oriental in Milan, Rosewood Milan (opening 2025), Six Senses Milan (opening 2026), Edition Rome (opening June 2023), Four Seasons San Domenico Palace in Taormina, Hotel Danieli in Venice (rebranded Four Seasons), the W Hotel Milan in Piazzetta Bossi (scheduled to open in late 2023) and Hotel Le Ginestre in Porto Cervo (SS), which will be repositioned as a 5* hotel and branded Mandarin Oriental. Outside Italy, it should be noted that the Statuto Group completed the acquisition of the 180-key 5* Hotel W in Ibiza in July 2023. According to rumours, moreover, to support the expansion plan of its hotel portfolio in Europe, the Statuto Group has commissioned Lazard Asset Management to search for a financial partner willing to inject EUR 2 billion in capital.
